Do you know Saillans? It was in this charming spot - nestled on the banks of the Drôme River - that Marie was born. Starting out in this village, which in the 19th century played its part in the Lyon region’s silk manufacturing boom, Marie’s path has led her step by step (or should that be stitch by stich?) to her current role.

Laurence Papoutchian

Yes, you heard me right. Marie (now a proud inhabitant of Villeurbanne) is also a keen knitter and gives free rein to her passion by producing outfits for her 2-year old (who is - duh! - the world’s most beautiful toddler!).

When not hunting for vintage clothes and accessories, she can be found comfortably curled up with a good book or watching one of her favourite series, especially “6 Feet Under”, which is top of her “to be buried with” list.

After working at a major media group for several years, Marie recently embarked on an exciting new adventure as a freelance writer. This passionate wordsmith loves to tell her own stories and bewitch young audiences with her words.  Her children’s picture book, Maxence Lepou, is a marvellous mix of poetry and illustrations.

As she joins our writing team, she is looking forward to inspiring your next trip with her undying love of both language and the Lyon region.
