Musée Jean Couty
1 Place Henri Barbusse - 69009 Lyon 9ème
From 16 October 2020 to 11 April 2021, Musée Jean Couty will be exhibiting the works of a huge name in the world of photography!
On the banks of the Saône, near the peaceful Ile Barbe, Musée Jean Couty is holding a major exhibition, lasting six months and including 90 photographs (around twenty of which are being exhibited for the first time!) by the photographer Robert Doisneau.
Exhibited alongside 17 works by Jean Couty, the photographs have two main themes, in keeping with the oeuvre of this local painter.
On the one hand, there are shots of artists in their workshops taken between 1945 and 1971. They offer a glimpse into the lives of artists such as Picasso, Giacometti and the couple Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely.
On the other, there are thirty or so views of Lyon taken in the 1950s, when Robert Doisneau worked for the magazine Vogue. Always full of humanity, they are a precious record of the city at the time. The works of Jean Couty answer those of the photographer, creating a conversation between oil paintings, drawings and photographs.
This is a unique exhibition, which is perfectly in phase with Lyon and the artistic theme!
Eléonore is the romantic member of the team! Rumour has it that she knows her classics better than anyone else, and if you want to strike up a conversation with her, just mention Jane Austen, and you'll be away!
