The International City of Gastronomy
4 Grand Cloître du Grand Hôtel-Dieu Entrée par la place de l'Hôpital - 69002 Lyon 2ème
To celebrate its reopening, the International City of Gastronomy is holding the temporary exhibition ‘Banquet’, which will stimulate all of your senses!
After being held at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, in Paris, for several months, this roaming exhibition is naturally coming to Lyon, the capital of gastronomy.
The exhibition is formed of three spaces. First, the ‘kitchen space’, where you can step into the shoes of an apprentice cook. You will learn the ins and outs of cooking times, garnishing desserts, handling utensils and more. Then there is the ‘amuse-bouche space’, which offers a range of sensory experiences. Saving the best for last is the ‘banquet space’, where you can explore a huge, immersive show that combines projected images, mapping, sounds and smells. The menu of this incredible meal was created by chef Thierry Marx and scientist Raphaël Haumont. It offers a chance to learn more about celebratory meals, including traditions and history, across various cultures and time periods.
This exhibition was designed and produced by the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie, in partnership with the INRAE (France’s National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment).
