In summer, you'll see open-air screens pop up all over Lyon. Which is perfectly normal, seeing as the city has had a long love affair with the cinema, and we never waste an opportunity to celebrate it!

Festivals organized by enthusiasts succeed one another from June to early September, giving us free projections of feature-length films (in their original subtitled versions) and short films… sometimes combined with entertainment, games and concerts, etc.

Enjoy a very relaxed atmosphere and the pleasure of summer evenings.

This summer...

L’été en cinémascope, organized by Institut Lumière. Every Tuesday evening in Place Ambroise Courtois, in front of the Lumière villa, to watch old classics in their original subtitled versions. From 26th June to 28th August 2018.

Cinéma sous les étoiles, 4 evenings and 4 films in the subtitled original versions, on the theme of "Slow Life", in place d’Ainay, from 16th to 19th July 2018.

Lyola!, festival of German film from 25th to 28th June 2018. Place d’Ainay.

A must for fans of sing-along cinema on 7 July 2018 with Mamma Mia in a theatrical ambience. In the Place Ambroise Courtois, the evening will most likely be very lively!

Also not to be missed: every year the Cinéfil Festival, from the 27th to the 29th July 2018, sets up on the river bank in the Confluence area, to offer concerts and short films. Joins us on the Fargo barge from 8.30 pm onwards. Organic refreshment stall if you’re feeling peckish.

And of course, the unmissable video broadcast on a giant screen of Don Giovanni by Mozart under the stars with the choir and orchestra of Lyon Opera, on Saturday 7th of July 2018, in the large Roman theatre of Fourvière. A  magical moment (booking essential).

These films, all of which are free, are offered within the scope of the Tout l’Monde Dehors! Festival.
