Music and concerts in Lyon in March

In March, music lovers celebrate contemporary French chanson with ‘Les Chants de Mars’. Since 2007, this festival has offered a superb line-up that highlights emerging artists, in venues throughout the metropolitan area.

Cinema in Lyon in March

A number of film festivals are held in the Lyon metropolitan area in March, such as ‘Écrans Mixtes’, which celebrates queer cinema, and ‘Reflets du Cinéma Ibérique & Latino-Américain’, an Iberian and Latin American film festival that has been held at Le Zola in Villeurbanne since 1984.

A month of sports in Lyon

In March, as the warm weather returns, the Lyon metropolitan area limbers up for sports! Each year, the Lyon Urban Trail (A.K.A. LUT) offers a different way to see the city, as does the spectacular rollerblading event Lyon Roller Open.

Lastly, at the end of March, the ‘Foire de Lyon’ is held. 
The history of this fair goes back to the Middle Ages. It reappeared in its contemporary form in 1916. Édouard Herriot, former Mayor of Lyon, used to say that the fair was the place to “do as much business as possible, with as little time, space and cost as possible.” Today, the Foire de Lyon is held in Eurexpo and attracts more than 200,000 curious visitors each year.
