Enjoy a change of scenery on the doorstep of Lyon

Accessible by bike and bus, the green spaces of the Plateau Nord are remarkable. A little gem nestled on the river Saône, Île Barbe offers a beautiful verdant setting right next to Lyon's 9th district. The botanical rose garden of Saint-Clair in Caluire-et-Cuire is unique in the world, with its diverse range of wild roses. The Parc du Haut de la Combe in Sathonay-Camp has excellent facilities, with games areas and sports grounds for all ages. Lastly, the Voie Verte links Caluire-et-Cuire and Sathonay-Camp with a beautiful cycle path.

Visit unusual historical locations

A great centre of the French Resistance, Caluire-et-Cuire has converted the house where Jean Moulin was arrested into a beautiful memorial. The town is also home to the Fort de Montessuy, which was built to protect Lyon from invaders. Lastly, there are guided tours of the Usine des Eaux de Caluire, an amazing underground site that used to be a water treatment plant.
