From the second half of the nineteenth century to the present day, the Halles de Lyon has been the home of various food merchants. When it was created in 1859, Lyon’s first indoor food market brought together the city’s stallholders on Place des Cordeliers. 

One century later, in the heart of the Part-Dieu district, following a major construction project, the food market was named after our multi-starred Chef and local hero, Paul Bocuse, thus becoming the Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse. 

The market now attracts as many tourists as it does locals, who come to discover produce of unmatched quality, including smoked salmon from Maison Rolle, cheese from Mère Richard and Cellerier, sweet delicacies from Sève and Bouillet, and steaks from Garçons Bouchers. All in all, more than sixty merchants gather here to celebrate Lyon’s gastronomic excellence.
