Croix-Rousse district and Terreaux

  • For a tasty break in Lyon's 1st district, head to Tomé on the slopes of Croix-Rousse hill. This establishment serves original, vegetarian and healthy dishes of the day and is perfect for a tea time!
  • For those with a sweet tooth, there’s Ikône, a liquid chocolate bar located near Place des Terreaux, where Valrhôna chocolate reigns supreme… Enough said!
  • For a laid-back, cosmopolitan atmosphere, try the coffee shop at Away Hostel one of Lyon’s new-generation hostel. You can meet some amazing people!

Presqu’île

Now, this is where the choices become very difficult! From Place des Terreaux to Place Carnot, the city centre is crammed with tempting addresses…

  • You can enjoy the colourful interior filled with childhood memories at Pimprenelle, chocolate delights at Lindt (yes, they have a tea room too!) or fairtrade products at Second Cup. The choice is yours!
  • Feel like a 5-star break in an exceptional setting? Le Dôme, the bar of the Intercontinental hotel, welcomes you between 3pm and 6pm under its dome 32m high for a gourmet tea time!
  • Chocolate addicts will feel at home at Diggers Chocolate Bar whereas Anglophiles will try a traditional “tea time” at Bourbon’s House.
  • Near Bellecour, Tea Landsia welcomes customers in a bohemian/countryside ambiance, Maison Pignol goes for tradition with its huge selection of classic pastries and In Cuisine offers a nice break away from the hustle bustle of the city center.
  • Around Perrache, at Papas Sucrés, two young men slave away in the kitchen to delight your taste buds.

Vieux-Lyon

In Lyon’s main tourist district, you will find the great classics, such as La Marquise, a tea room where you can enjoy superb praline tarts and brioche! While you’re there, pay a visit to the inner courtyard of the very beautiful Maison du Chamarier where the cake shop is located.

Left bank of the Rhône

  • For quality food in a sleek contemporary ambiance, head for the Kitchen Café. By the way, you can order their pastries to take-away for your events.
  • Start the day with a speciality coffee or a healthy breakfast, keep the ball rolling with a creative lunch, then a sweet afternoon snack at Anahera. A sure-fire change of scenery in the 7th district’s leafy oasis! Also vegan and gluten-free options.
  • In the bar adjoining the hostel Ho36, travellers and locals mingle in a laid-back, friendly atmosphere.

What’s more, some of these establishments also serve brunch.
You’re sure to find your new hang-out among this selection!
