Smart destination?

For me, smart tourism is authentic, local tourism, which above all has a connection to the local area, and provides work for locals.

Votre Smart action?

At the Hôtel du Simplon, we’ve worked hard to develop a partnership with Les Petites Cantines, which is part of the social and solidarity economy. They get people living in the neighbourhood to cook for other locals, creating a genuine community.
Here, we buy from local producers, pick up unsold goods from an organic store just next door, and cook them the same day with locals. This allows them to try out recipes that they can reproduce at home for less than €2.

To go further?

Our aim is to get Lyon locals to play a bigger role in welcoming tourists.
All these measures will help to give tourists a warmer welcome all over Lyon, develop Lyon’s reputation as a destination, and make it even more inviting.
