Laundry Museum
104 avenue Joachim Gladel - 69290 Craponne
Based in a former factory belonging to Etablissements Gladel, washing machine makers from 1902 to 1991, the museum exhibits 200 items dating from the start of the 20th century: washing machines and spin-driers, irons, etc.
The museum contains, among other items, a wooden drum from 1910, invented by a cooper and a mechanic from Craponne, a copper mangle from 1925 in working order, and a wooden vat that can hold 200 pairs of sheet that was built by a local cooper.
The GREHC association (History of Craponne Research and Study Group) installed the museum in the old factory in April 2004 and continues to manage it.
Guided tours are available given by former laundry workers, and there is a film about the evolution of laundry techniques.
