Gîte du gros caillou
6 rue des Pierres Plantées - 69001 Lyon 1er
The gîte du Gros Caillou is located 50 metres from the Croix Rousse square, and is therefore right at the heart of the district that was famous for the 'canuts' for more than 150 years. The canuts worked the Jacquard looms to produce the rolls of silk, which then were transported to Lyon's renowned silk manufacturers. The men carried the precious rolls on their backs, and to avoid the rain, the porters used the covered passageways through the buildings - the famous 'traboules'. The Gros Caillou gite is located 20 metres from the Boulevard de la Croix Rousse, in the former ramparts of the Croix Rousse free commune. The boulevard hosts a market 6 days out of seven and is the boundary between the 1st district 9the slopes) and the 4th district (the plateau). The Gîte du Gros Caillou is right at the centre of the lively Croix Rousse district and just 5 minutes from the Place des Terreaux and the town hall. There is a public car park 3 minutes' walk away and the bus and metro are at the foot of the building. Christine and Pascal are delighted to welcome you and will do their utmost to make your stay a pleasant one.
