Not to be missed
Lac de Tignes
In the summer, this natural lake fed by the glacier becomes the perfect base for water sports fans, be it water-jumping, stand-up paddle, pedalo, canoeing or trout fishing! In winter, it's a hotspot for ice-skating or diving under ice.
The Grande Motte glacier
One of Tignes' most iconic features and the highest point in the area, the Grande Motte glacier provides an incredible viewpoint at an altitude of 3,656m. A few minutes on the funicular railway followed by a cable car ride takes you to this truly breathtaking landscape.
The hydroelectric dam
Measuring 180m in height and 300m in length, France's highest dam boasts truly impressive dimensions. It is a site that's not to be missed, especially with its artificial lake containing 235 million cubic metres of water.
The event Live in Tignes by Francofolies
Three days of free concerts from 17th to 19th April 2018, held on the slopes as well as in the resort itself and hosted by the team behind the Francofolies de la Rochelle music festival. On the programme this year: Bigflo & Oli, L.E.J, Shaka Ponk, Catherine Ringer, Juliette Armanet, Naâman, Les Wampas, Lorenzo, Gauvain Sers, Part-Time Friends, Mai Lan & Hollie Cook.
The verdict from Camille, one of our writers
Tignes is a sporty resort with a party feel. I've been many times and always loved it. The ski area is enormous (with a link to Val d'Isère at the top of the slopes) but the resort itself has retained a close-knit feel that makes it really pleasant. It boasts all the same activities as a major winter sports resort: skiing, snowboarding, snowmobile, ice driving, paragliding and more. It’s a resort with a young, party feel with lots of English-speaking visitors. Great for a weekend of skiing and partying!

Julie was not born in Lyon, but she did decide to start her family here! Not that long ago, she would spend most of her evenings out at concerts... Although she has already bought ear defenders for her little 19-month-old boy, so that he can discover the joys of live rock and electronic music (soon!), she is now much more of a morning person as a mother.
