A river, green spaces and heritage

In the Lônes et coteaux du Rhône area, several beautiful green spaces offer a break near the water in a very pleasant, peaceful setting. The area’s three water-based activities offer a taste of the holidays.

Enjoy a breath of fresh air in a peaceful setting

Stretching down to the south along the banks of the Rhône, the area is home to little havens of peace. On the doorstep of Lyon, the Yzeron nature park in Oullins boasts some 60,000 m² of meadows and woods. Further to the south, near Vernaison, the Île de la Table Ronde is home to a beautiful forest and rare species, such as the beaver and kingfisher.
In the village of Charly, the beautiful grounds of Domaine Melchior Philibert offer a splendid view for a picnic or peaceful afternoon.
Lastly, several paths follow the banks of the Rhône and the lônes (branches of the river), in particular near Vernaison.

Try an original water-based activity

There are three water-based activities to enjoy. You can explore many fish species, both local and exotic, at the Aquarium de la Mulatière. For a relaxing break, the Calicéo centre in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon offers saunas, Turkish baths and large indoor and outdoor heated pools.
Lastly, the historical nautical jousts of La Mulatière are an amazing sight to behold.

Calling all heritage lovers

In Givors town centre, the Cité des Etoiles is a unique urban feature to be discovered, with its amazing architecture designed for the benefit of residents and avant-garde vision of urban diversity

At the entrance of the Monts et Coteaux du Lyonnais, this charming village located 12 km southwest of Lyon keeps a rural and agricultural character very appreciated.

On the right bank of the Rhone, 20 km south of Lyon, the city is set between river, city and Parc Naturel du Pilat.

15 km south of Lyon, Grigny, a true town in the countryside, enjoys a privileged location between the Rhone River and Coteaux du Lyonnais.

With a rich and varied heritage (forts, Romanesque chapel, country house), the city offers visitors a seductive landscape between nature and heritage along the river.

La Mulatière

This small town, bordering Lyon to the south, stretches all the way along the banks of the Saone then the Rhone before opening to the Monts du Lyonnais.

Located south-west of Lyon and bordered on the east by the Rhone, the city enjoys a privileged geographical location in the heart of the Lyon Metropole.

Located 6 km south of Lyon, on the right bank of the Rhone, the city was first of all the vegetable garden of Lyon thanks to an important market gardening tradition of which some vestiges remain.

South west of Lyon, in the extension of the Fourvière hill, the city is at the entrance of the Monts du Lyonnais and opens onto the beautiful Yzeron Valley, a veritable green corridor.

Between urban space and farmland, Saint-Genis-Laval will surprise you with its medieval village, its many bourgeois mansions of the 19th century.

The city is situated on the banks of the "old Rhone" and its lônes (area between land and river, made of mountains and vals) is a very pleasant place to walk.
