A river, green spaces and heritage
In the Lônes et coteaux du Rhône area, several beautiful green spaces offer a break near the water in a very pleasant, peaceful setting. The area’s three water-based activities offer a taste of the holidays.
Enjoy a breath of fresh air in a peaceful setting
Stretching down to the south along the banks of the Rhône, the area is home to little havens of peace. On the doorstep of Lyon, the Yzeron nature park in Oullins boasts some 60,000 m² of meadows and woods. Further to the south, near Vernaison, the Île de la Table Ronde is home to a beautiful forest and rare species, such as the beaver and kingfisher.
In the village of Charly, the beautiful grounds of Domaine Melchior Philibert offer a splendid view for a picnic or peaceful afternoon.
Lastly, several paths follow the banks of the Rhône and the lônes (branches of the river), in particular near Vernaison.
Try an original water-based activity
There are three water-based activities to enjoy. You can explore many fish species, both local and exotic, at the Aquarium de la Mulatière. For a relaxing break, the Calicéo centre in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon offers saunas, Turkish baths and large indoor and outdoor heated pools.
Lastly, the historical nautical jousts of La Mulatière are an amazing sight to behold.
