With several communes in the Monts d’Or, the Ouest Nord area has many walking trails to discover its pristine natural setting, including Sentier de la Pierre, Sentier du Ruisseau de Rochecardon and Sentier des Rapaces. Read the guide (in French) published by Greater Lyon to find out more.
For a picnic or walk in the country with stunning panoramic views, head to the scenic viewpoints of Mont-Thou and Mont-Cindre in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or. Lastly, in Tour-de-Salvigny, the Domaine de Lacroix-Laval boasts 115 hectares of meadows, valleys, ponds and woods, covering three communes.

Discover the beautiful heritage of the villages of the Ouest-Nord

In addition to their cabornes (small dry-stone huts) and wash houses, the communes in the area are home to remarkable churches, chapels and buildings. A little gem in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or, the chapel of the Hermitage of Mont-Cindre, with its amazing gardens and stunning views, is well worth a visit. In Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d’Or, the chapel of Saint-Fortunat is also worth going out of your way to see.
In Lissieu, make a stop to visit the beautiful church of Saint-Christophe and the restored towers of the former medieval castle.
Lastly, in Dardilly, the house where Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney (the patron saint of parish priests), was born, and the church Saint-Jean-Marie Vianney, offer a chance to learn about this local figure.

Calling all romantic souls

The hotel-restaurant L’Ermitage in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or is an ideal address for a romantic dinner with a view.

A lively commune at the gates of Lyon, bordered by the Rochecardon valley.

Rich of an important religious, architectural and natural heritage, the town is home to the birthplace of the Curé d' Ars, beautiful houses from the 16th and 18th centuries as well as a military fort from the 19th century.

In the heart of a gentle and hilly landscape, the commune marks the northern limit of the "Coteaux du Lyonnais", at the gates of Beaujolais.

Located on the outskirts of the Monts d' Or, to the north-west of the Lyon agglomeration, and formerly called "Les jardins de Lyon", the city preserves more than half of its territory in agricultural and landscaped areas.

Between Mont-Cindre and Mont-Thou, north of the 9th arrondissement, discover a village full of history, full of curiosities.

With 55% of its territory in a green zone, the commune is ideal for walking and discovering an exceptional natural heritage.

Located on the borders of the Lyon and Beaujolais agglomeration, at the foot of the Mont d' Or, the commune enjoys a privileged geographical location in the "green crown" of Lyon.
