2,200 hectares of nature on the outskirts of Lyon !
Situated between the Dombes region and the Grand Parc Miribel Jonage, the territory of the Communes de Miribel has all the assets of a town in the countryside.
In one part, you can discover the Dombes Plateau, with its farming traditions, terroir products and heritage. Stroll along the hiking trails, the evocative local heritage names of which are guaranteed to get you wondering about their origin: Madonna's trail in Miribel, the Fort trail in Neyron, the Arboretum trail in Beynost, the Sources trail in St-Maurice-de-Beynost, and the Epinettes trail in Neyron…
In another part, after climbing up to the crest of the hill, you can ascend to the sites of Madonna and Carillon monuments. At their feet on the esplanade, a viewpoint indicator will help you locate the various landmarks that make up the panoramic landscape, which extends from Lyon all the way to the Mont Blanc.
And finally, in the plain of the river Rhône, between the canals of Miribel and Jonage, the Grand Parc reveals its unexpected treasures, as it follows the rhythm of the passing seasons. Here you can discover nature, land and water sports, shows, artistic installations, and relaxing hidden spots… Take a deep breath, you are now entering the heart of one of the largest metropolitan parks in Europe.
9.30 am – 10.30 am: pay a visit to Cueillette de Fraisochamp in Thil, to discover its super fresh fruit and vegetables, and pick your own in true “Chapeau de Paille”* style. This is your opportunity to have a fun time with your family and enjoy picking your own local quality products.
11 am: stop off at the Grand Parc Miribel Jonage to make the most of its leisure centre and the many activities on offer: golf, tennis, swimming, sailing, cycling trails, etc. There's something for all tastes and ages.
12.30 pm - 14.30 pm: enjoy a bite to eat by the water in one of the park's picnic areas, and make the most of the peace and quiet to relax.
2.30 pm - 5 pm: head for the Madonna and Carillon site in Miribel. Climb to the top of the 32.70 m statue (be warned: there are 151 steps) and admire the superb panoramic view over the plain of the river Ain and the Rhône departments… Some days, you can even see the Mont Blanc! Open from May to September, but please check opening hours. Just a few metres from the Madonna stands a bell tower with 50 bells. Don't miss the carillon-bell concerts during the high season, and enjoy the wonderful view while listening to the peal of the bells.
