An exceptional transformation

This colossal project to create a lifestyle and leisure space in the city centre has given a new lease of life to the former hospital building listed as a historical monument.

Grand Hôtel Dieu 1 place de l'Hôpital - 69002 Lyon 2ème

Former hospital listed as a Historical Monument in November 2011. Built on the banks of the Rhône in 1184 by the Pontife brothers and called the “Pont du Rhône” hospital or “Hôtel-Dieu de Notre Dame de Piété du Pont de Rhône” after its extension in 1493.

The Grand Hôtel Dieu has emerged from its chrysalis. Offices, accommodation, the luxury Intercontinental hotel, a convention centre, shops, bars and restaurants, as well as courtyards and gardens, will be open to explore in the spring. Four main areas – fashion, design, food and well-being – are represented. You can expect to find streetwear with the renowned Parisian brand Citadium, Japanese food with Wagamama, music and cocktails with the Officine, cosmetics with Clarins, and designer décor with AM-PM, as well as the very Lyonnais Café Mokxa…

Cour du Midi vue intérieure

The cherry on the cake that is Grand Hôtel Dieu will surely be the famous Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie (International City of Gastronomy), which will bring exhibitions and workshops to rediscover the sense of taste and a focus on food and health.

Camille

Rising with a smile on her face in the morning, always curious and enthusiastic to discover new places (and new dishes) in Lyon, Camille is what the specialists refer to as a « compulsive tester ». More partial to savoury than sweet (even though offering her a praluline – a delicious brioche filled with pralines – is a sure-fire way to get in her good books), Camille devotes herself body and soul to testing new food establishments in Lyon. Her radar for new addresses is legendary.
