Unfortunately for some, this public holiday is on a Sunday this year, but that’s all the more reason to make the most of the weekend’s celebrations!
Saturday the 13th of July
If you are fond of military parades, head to Place Lyautey and Cours Franklin-Roosevelt at 11:30 am. With a parade, a presentation of military equipment and vehicles on display, the weekend will begin to the sound of the bugle!
In the evening, towns in the urban area will be holding dances and firework shows. From Saint-Germain au Mont-d’Or to Saint-Cyr au Mont-d’Or and Francheville, celebrations will be happening outside of Lyon too!
Sunday the 14th of July
Beginning at 9 pm, there will be music and dancing on the banks of the Saône: three stages will be set up between Pont Maréchal Juin and Pont Bonaparte.
> Are you a fan of soul? If so, make sure you don't miss the Wonder Collective – Tribute to Stevie Wonder.
> Maybe you prefer Latin music? If you do, then there will also be a salsa stage, where the group Clave Doce will be creating a party atmosphere.
> Or is jazz your thing? Djoukil & Gon'a Swing will be serving up swing, boogie, Lindy Hop and Charleston.
This will keep your feet and ears busy while you wait for the big moment, which will be a treat for your eyes!
De quoi occuper vos pieds et vos oreilles en attendant LE grand moment où cette fois, vos yeux seront les plus sollicités!
The traditional fireworks will be fired from the top of Fourvière Hill, beginning at 10:30 pm. Stay on the banks of the Saône for a superb view of the display.
Want to keep the celebrations going into the night? Make your way to one of the traditional ‘bals des pompiers’ (firemen's balls), which go on until the wee hours of the morning!
Happy Bastille Day!
